General Stamping & Metalworks operates in the fabricated metal products sector. The industry typically includes many small to medium-sized regional companies producing stamped, bent or laser cut metal parts, as well as various levels of services. Metal fabricating companies tend to have relatively few customers with whom they enjoy strong relationships. Although among the larger metal fabricating companies in the country, GSM has not been an exception.
We differentiate ourselves based on a broader range of offerings and a robust supply chain that enables us to create strategic alliances to the benefit of our customers. We are also active in several manufacturing sectors in terms of our customer base and have positioned ourselves as premier providers of manufacturing solutions to industry leaders and progressive OEM’s worldwide. We further differentiate our company by offering in-house professional engineering expertise, tool & die, assembly, kitting, warehousing and fulfillment, and manual as well as robotic welding. We provide prototype-through-production manufacturing solutions, including providing fabrication of legacy and non-legacy service parts.
In addition to our eleventh-place ranking in The Fabricator Magazine’s “Fab 40” list of top US fabricators for 2018, we were recognized in 2017 with an Economic Impact Award from the South Bend Chamber of Commerce and selected as one of forty “Indiana Companies to Watch” by the Indiana Economic Development Corporation in 2011.
Recent publication of the Precision Metalforming Association’s Benchmark of Quarterly Operating Ratios confirms GSM’s position among the top 10% of U.S. metalforming companies responding.
We have enjoyed a long and successful strategic relationship with our key customer, The Toro Company, and, before its acquisition, the Wheel Horse Company. From that relationship and its many successes, we have expanded our customer base to include other growing business sectors, primarily utility grade solar mounting infrastructure, automotive aftermarket, agriculture and military utility vehicles.
Our growing capabilities, capacities and leading edge facility afford us efficiencies few other metal fabricators can match. With that, our goal is to serve the best-in-class from a variety of industry segments, enabling us to continuously improve our capabilities, provide growth opportunities for our team, and most importantly, protect our brand–and yours.

Dear Valued Customers, Suppliers, and Business Partners:
We are excited to announce we have changed our name from General Sheet Metal Works, Inc., to General Stamping & Metalworks, Inc., effective September 15, 2016. This change more accurately expresses the core of our capabilities as a full-service metal fabricator providing parts to OEM’s worldwide.
Our new name reflects the evolution of our operational expertise, which shifted dramatically in 1953, when we left the sheet metal business entirely to pursue the fabrication of metal parts for a diverse range of customers producing products for lawn and garden, agriculture, automotive aftermarket, and other consumer-focused industries. Today, we are a major supplier to the solar infrastructure market as well as serving emerging industries looking to prototype and scale new products.
